I’m Ready for a Cheerful Kitchen

Everywhere I go, each kitchen design center, even the kitchens of my family and friends, the kitchens are brown, beige, black, every dark color you can think of.  The dark walls, the dark cabinets, and all the dark granite, no wonder I hate to cook.  I need a cheerful kitchen.

Cheerful, you know, full of color.  The kind that your Grandmother used to have.  Cherries, Apples, Birds, and Flowers, that is what I want.  I want light green walls, black and white checked floors, a huge pantry, and bright red accents.  Maybe even red and white checked café curtains.

My Grandmother had a kitchen with swinging café doors that swung back and forth from the living room to the kitchen.  Boy, were those fun when I was a kid.  And the icing on the cake, 2 built in corner cabinets with double doors.  You could play for hours, keeping the top door closed, opening the bottom door in front of you, playing store clerk with everyone that passed thru the kitchen on their way to the short squatty refrigerator.

These Apple Canisters in my Etsy Shop remind me of my Grandmother.  I brought these home with me from an Estate Sale a few months ago.  This set is from the late 1950s, the years I was a small child and running thru my Grandmother’s house during my yearly visits.

Her kitchen was bright and cheerful, a place I will never forget.  Take the design plunge, go against the trend of a dark and dreary kitchen, your grandkids will thank you someday.  Here is the Etsy link to the Apple Canister Set https://www.etsy.com/listing/206985510/set-of-4-apple-canisters-aluminum-metal?ref=shop_home_active_3
